Training Policy for Gas Powered Tools
All ITW Construction Products gas powered tools* are CE marked and classified as pneumatic tools and have less stringent and different safety requirements to those of Powder Actuated tools. There is no legislative requirement for operatives of gas powered tools to have a formal certificate of competence for use.
ITW Construction Products can provide safety training on site, or at their premises, and will issue a certificate of competence if the trainee reaches the competence level required. Whilst there is no legislation we strongly suggest that operators should be trained in the safe use and basic maintenance of gas powered tools. This safety training is also available from our nationwide network of distributors.
Full instructions for use of the tools are issued with every tool sold, and ITW Construction Products strongly recommend all operatives are familiar with the safe working practices detailed in these instructions, before operating. The operatives must follow the basic safety instructions on eye and ear protection.
It is the responsibility of any main contractor or employer to ensure that all employed operatives are competent in the safe use of any gas or powder tool being operated.
When requested, ITW Construction Products and / or an ITW Construction Products certified distributor will provide operator training in the safe use and maintenance of gas powered and powder actuated tools at an agreed time and location.
